Zechariah 2
Scripture Reading: Read Zechariah Chapter 2.
Just Stop Talking:
Zechariah 2:13 – “Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.” (ESV)
In the social media age, everyone has a voice. Whether you want to hear all those voices or not is a different question. I am not against the idea of people being able to declare publicly on social media what they believe, but we do indeed live in a unique time. I think we probably talk too much.
But talking too much isn’t a new issue; social media in our culture has created a new spin on how we express our thoughts in public. Although we have more avenues today to share our opinions with anyone who will listen, we are reminded here in Zechariah of our proper response to a Holy God. The truth is, we have no response. When we think of His goodness and holiness, we must sometimes be silent before the Lord.
While this verse hints at a future day of Christ's glorious return, it also invites us to consider: Do we truly understand the transformative power of silence? Often, our prayers are dominated by our own voices, leaving little room for listening. Let's embrace the challenge this week to be silent before the Lord, allowing His holiness to transform our hearts and minds.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for speaking too much and failing to listen. Help me, Lord, to quiet myself before you, to heed the call to silence, and to listen to your voice.
