Zechariah 12

Scripture Reading:  Read Zechariah Chapter 12. 

Delicate & Extreme:

Zechariah 12:1 – “The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:” (NLT)

A friend of mine is in the facility maintenance business and is one of the fastest workers I’ve ever seen. If you want something done quickly, he will make it happen. One of the things, however, that we often joke about is that he can build a wall in no time, but if you ask him to finish the drywall and trim work, good luck. 

If you talk with a handyman and ask him what he’s good at and not very good at, he’ll usually be quick to share his shortcomings.  The truth of this verse blows my mind about our God.  He created the heavens and the earth, yet He also made the human body.  Notice how unique this language is: “who forms the human spirit.”  He created my spirit, and He created your spirit. 

I often find myself quickly reading over verses like this. I’ve read hundreds of times of God’s creative handiwork. Take a moment today and pray about these truths of God. Look at your list of prayers and pray them over again with the fresh knowledge that the God you and I pray to is the God who has infinite power and endless resources.  

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for this incredible verse and this fantastic truth that you are the creator.  I pray that your power and resources will affect the level of trust that I have in you.
